College Station's New Construction Program provides income-qualified residents ownership opportunities in many parts of the City. The City supports non-profit affordable housing development through its partnerships with Community Housing Development Organizations and Habitat for Humanity. The City works with these organizations to build a high-quality product that reinforces neighborhood integrity. The construction of new affordable housing units is carried out using HOME grant funds. Contractors are chosen based on a set of qualifications ensuring the best quality of affordable home is built. Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDO)
There are currently two CHDOs working with the City - Brazos Valley Community Action Programs and Elder-Aid, Inc. The organizations receive funds to carry out affordable housing activities in College Station, including new construction, acquisition, or rehabilitation. These homes or rental units are made available to eligible low- or moderate-income households in College Station.

Habitat for Humanity
