To claim an exemption from jury service, you must complete the jury summons form or send a letter referencing your court date and time, and return it to the College Station Municipal Court prior to the date you are summoned to appear. Please note that business and personal reasons are not qualified exemptions. The following persons are exempt from jury service.

Person over the age of 75.

Person having legal custody of a child under the age of twelve only if jury service would necessitate leaving the child without adequate supervision. If you are employed full-time and your child attends school/day care, you are not entitled to this exemption.

Person enrolled and in actual attendance as a FULL-TIME student in an institution of higher education.

Officer or employee of the Senate, House of Representatives, or any other department, Commission, Board, Officer or other agency in the Legislative Branch of the State Government.

Student of public or private high school.

The primary caretaker of a person who is an invalid unable to care for himself or herself.

Not a resident of the City of College Station.

Not eligible to be a registered voter.

Have been convicted of theft or any felony or under indictment or legal accusation for theft or any felony.
Any person filing a false claim of exemption can be punished by a fine of up to $1,000.00.
