Smoke testing scheduled this week in Chimney Hill

College Station Water Services will smoke test sewer lines this week east of Texas Avenue and north of University Drive to Spring Loop, including the Chimney Hill subdivision. The tests will be Tuesday through Thursday (and possibly Friday) between 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.

The smoke tests include blowing odorless, non-toxic smoke into the wastewater collection lines to detect defects. Smoke may come out of manholes, bathroom vents, or other areas, including grass or pavement cracks.

Water Services recommends that customers run water down infrequently used drains before the testing. Test smoke caught in plumbing traps can enter buildings.
