TxDOT to close FM 2818 ramp to Wellborn Road starting Sunday night

TxDOT’s contractor will close the flyover ramp from Harvey Mitchell Parkway (FM 2818) to southbound Wellborn Road (FM 2154) for four months beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Detours will be in place.

Lanes will shift on Harvey Mitchell between Holleman Drive and Wellborn Road, but lanes on Harvey Mitchell and Wellborn will remain open. Since traffic may be temporarily stopped during the switch, southbound drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes Sunday night. The shift will be completed by 6 a.m. on Monday.

The contractor will construct the southbound bridge, approaches, and retaining walls. Southbound access from Harvey Mitchell to the Jones-Butler U-turn will be closed permanently.

The work is part of $47.6 million TxDOT’s expansion of Harvey Mitchell from Raymond Stotzer Parkway (FM 60) to Wellborn Road to improve safety, enhance capacity, and address congestion.
