The ribbon-cutting for the two new bird viewing blinds at Lick Creek Park is Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the blind north of the Lick Creek Nature Center. College Station is regarded as one of the best bird-watching locations in the region, and enthusiasts have spotted more than 225 species at Lick Creek, the area's premier nature preserve.

Local birding groups strategically chose the location of the structures, which are made of long-lasting Douglas Fir and Teak wood. The second blind is located on Yaupon Loop. The project cost $142,490, well under the budgeted $150,000.

Lick Creek is a haven for warblers and insect-eating birds and has become a nesting site for two species rare in Texas – the Kentucky warbler and the Swainson's warbler.
